Dear group members,
I need for both Anna and Peg to focus exclusively on a single item that is
full priority. Therefore, delay your requests to them until June 7. Please
do not ask them for any favor and wait unless it is absolutely essential. If
you request anything to them, do it over e-mail and copy me. I want to make
sure both of them are undisturbed. Also, if they ask you for any paperwork,
it is your priority to provide it to them ASAP.
Greetings,
Alan

Dear group members,
If any of you is up to TF'ing Chem160 with me let me know. I think all of
you are done with teaching requirements, but if you wanted to do it for any
reason (again for those that did it already, or for the first time) write to
me.
Otherwise, I will steach with another (random) student :)
Best,
Alan

Hi all,
Announcement 1. I have morphed into Alejandro Perdomo to become the new
group meeting master. If you want to delay your group meeting indefinitely,
we can work something under the table, cash is accepted (Just kidding...).
Announcement 2. No group meeting tomorrow since everyone is on holidays at
MQM!
Best,
Joel.
Dear Quanta
I am out of town but there will be a meeting tomorrow at 11. Shelby will be leading a discussion about an idea for a slightly better than polynomial quantum speedup on a promise NAND tree problem. The idea came from MIT undergrad Bohua Zhan. Sorry I will miss it.

Group,
It has come to my attention that some of you may not be aware that you
should alert Alan and me whenever you are away on travel or out due to
illness. This way if something should happen, we will have this information
to help in case of emergency.
Thank you,
Anna

Dear group,
Tomorrow Peter Love is up. Please find the title and abstract below.
``An introduction to Lie algebras in quantum information (and a little
quantum chemistry)’’
In this talk I will introduce Lie algebras, give some simple examples and
describe how Lie theory can be useful in two areas in quantum information:
producing short circuits that realize a given unitary matrix, and in
understanding the IQP model of quantum computing in which all operations
commute. I will also point out some connections of Lie theory to quantum
chemistry, in particular to the algebra of excitation operators.
Cheers,
-A
