TWO LECTURESHIPS IN THEORETICAL CONDENSED MATTER PHYSICS - CAVENDISH LABORATORY, UNIVERSITY OF CAMBRIDGE

Applications are invited for two University Lectureships in Theoretical Condensed Matter Physics to commence on 1 October 2012 or as soon as possible. Appointment will be made at an appropriate point on the scale for University Lecturers and will be for a probationary period of five years with appointment to the retiring age thereafter, subject to satisfactory performance. The appointments will further strengthen the Cavendish's international reputation for leading theoretical condensed matter physics research, which is interpreted in a very broad sense. Thus areas of interest include, but are not limited to, biophysics, ultra cold atom physics, correlated quantum systems, statistical and soft matter physics, electronic structure, novel electronic and optical materials. The successful candidates will be expected to contribute to teaching and other academic activities in the Cavendish. Informal enquiries about the posts may be addressed to any of the staff members in the Theory of Condensed Matter Group, Professors Michael Payne, Richard Needs, Nigel Cooper, Ben Simons and Mark Warner - see the further particulars and www.tcm.phy.cam.ac.uk . Further information about the Department may be found at www.phy.cam.ac.uk. Further details are available from Ms Leona Hope-Cole(lh294@cam.ac.uk), PA to the Head of Department, Professor James Stirling. Applications should be sent by email to the same address and should include a full curriculum vitae, list of publications, a statement (up to 6 pages) of research interests and future plans, the names and contact details of three academic referees, and a completed
CHRIS/6 cover sheet, Parts 1 and 3 only, see:
http://www.admin.cam.ac.uk/offices/hr/forms/chris6/, to be received no
later than the 25 November 2011.

Closing date: 25 November 2011
