Title: Organic Flow Battery Electrolyte Discovery

Abstract: I will summarize the work of our group’s long-standing flow battery collaboration with Mike Aziz and Roy Gordon. Flow batteries are a strong candidate for solving the intermittency problems associated with wind and solar energy. Initially, we attempted to solve this problem and discover new molecules with chemical intuition and brute force high-throughput virtual screening. More recently, Florian, Loïc, and I have been collaborating on using their Phoenics/Chimera/Griffin algorithms/methods to more efficiently explore chemical space.

The best and most-polished parts of this talk will probably be taken from my heavily practiced job talk, whereas the parts that still need a bit more polishing are going to be presented at a JCESR/University of Illinois/MIT workshop on flow batteries at the end of the month.
