Hi all,

Doran will talk at group meeting today at 1:30 in the Div Room. See below for his title and abstract.

See you there,

Ian

Mechanism and regimes of vibronic transport: Coherence in Photosynthesis?

Recent work has suggested that functionally relevant quantum coherence can arise when excited-states delocalize between detuned pigments as a result of a resonant vibrations. I will ask a few basic questions to explore how such dynamics arise and to establish the parameter regimes that are pertinent.

1. What are the mechanisms of transport when excited state delocalization between pigments is supported by a resonant vibrational mode?

2. What are the constraints on the molecular parameters in order for transport to occur in the coherent regime?

In attempting to answer these questions, I will introduce two different perspectives on simulating the dynamics and show that some simple parameter relationships exist which could be useful in evaluating what systems can and cannot support coherent dynamics as a result of a resonant vibrational mode.

Hi all,

Just a heads up that group meeting this week will start at 1:30 (rather than the usual 3:30) to accommodate the NSF postdoc talk on funding opportunities. We'll still be in the Div Room.

All the best,

Ian
