Modern Optics and Spectroscopy Seminar
Tuesday, March 14 at 12pm in MIT 34-401
with lunch served immediately following the talk:
Prof. Daniel Neumark
University of California, Berkeley
"Attosecond Science in Atomic, Molecular, and Condensed Phase Physics"
The ability to generate isolated attosecond pulses based on table-top laser systems has opened up new frontiers in physics and chemistry. This talk will describe
experimental advances and then present several examples, including attosecond transient absorption in atoms, molecules, and solid samples, and four-wave mixing experiments on atoms and molecules using attosecond and near-infrared pulses.
