I have Catan. Shall I bring that?

As a reminder, we'll be having a board game night immediately following group meeting. Please bring some board games you would like to play.

I will bring: Citadels, Bang, and a borrowed copy of Isle of Skye.

See you tomorrow!

Hi all,

I will give group meeting tomorrow. My title and abstract are below. Also, we have group board game night afterwards.

I'm filling in for a late cancellation, which is possible this time (not in general) because I gave a talk at a conference last month. So I'd like to remind everyone to please read my emails, and reply promptly if necessary!

Best,

Ian

"Higher-efficiency quantum algorithms for simulation of chemistry"

I will talk about two new quantum algorithms for simulating chemistry based on truncated Taylor series. The first algorithm works with chemistry in second quantization, where we introduce a trick to evaluate and use the integrals that appear exponentially more quickly than classically possible. The second algorithm works in the configuration interaction representation, for which we introduce a new and better decomposition into 1-sparse matrices. I won't assume any background in quantum simulation.
