Dear Davis Center Affiliates:

I am writing to ask your help in advertising a new position at the Davis Center for Russian and Eurasian Studies. Professor Zvi Gitelman, of the University of Michigan, and I are co-directing a project on the most recent (post-1989) Russian-speaking Jewish migration to Israel, Germany, and the U.S. The project will focus on the impact of this diaspora on the politics, economics, and culture of both the sending and the receiving countries, as well as reexamine the concepts of diaspora and identity in light of this phenomenon. The major components of the project will be an international conference in fall 2011 and an edited volume. We are looking to hire a part-time project assistant, to begin as soon as possible.

Attached is the job description. I would be grateful if you would post this in your department and/or circulate it electronically to your community. If you happen know of people who might be interested, please feel free to send any names to Maria Altamore at 617-495-1181, altamore@fas.harvard.edu, or have them contact Maria directly.

Many thanks in advance for your help.

Sincerely,

Lisbeth Tarlow
Associate Director, Davis Center
