We are pleased to invite you to a conference on October 24 - 25, 2008:

“40 Years after Andrei Sakharov’s Reflections on Progress, Peaceful Coexistence and Intellectual Freedom: Russia Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow”

The conference will bring together participants from the U.S., Russia, and Europe to discuss reactions to Sakharov’s essays Reflections on Progress, Peaceful Coexistence and Intellectual Freedom (1968), The Inevitability of Perestroika (1988), and the continued relevance of Sakharov’s humanist vision. The conference will also address the nuclear issues he was concerned with and is conceived as a step to encourage constructive dialogue at a time when the administrations of both Russia and the U.S. are in the process of change.
