Hi, Boston friends and colleagues.  We at Tufts are looking to hire a part-time instructor for a social psychology methods course in the fall.  Details below.  If you have post-docs, recently defended students, or even excellent ABD grad students who might be interested in the teaching experience, we'd be much obliged if you were to share the ad below with them.  Many thanks,

Sam Sommers

Lecturer, Research Methods in Social Psychology

The Psychology Department of Tufts University in Medford, MA is seeking a part-time lecturer to teach an undergraduate course in Research Methods in Social Psychology (PSY 36) in the Fall 2014 semester.  This course focuses on the process of designing, conducting, interpreting, and presenting empirical research in social psychology.  Students will be exposed to different methods used in social psychological research, with an emphasis on true experiments.  The use of these methods will be illustrated through readings and discussions of classic and contemporary research in social psychology and class projects that provide hands-on experience in implementing these techniques.  Enrollment will be approximately 20-22 students.  The course meets Wednesday evenings, 6:30-9:00 p.m. with additional instructor responsibilities including weekly office hours, communication with students over email, and grading.  Candidates with a Ph.D. in psychology are preferred, although ABD graduate students may be considered.

Applicants should submit a CV, details concerning past teaching experience, and names of two references. If available, past/sample syllabi and previous teaching evaluations will also be considered. Materials and inquiries should be emailed to Sam Sommers, Director of Undergraduate Studies (sam.sommers@tufts.edu). Review of applications will begin immediately and will continue until the position is filled.

Tufts University is an Affirmative Action/Equal Opportunity employer.  We are committed to increasing the diversity of our faculty.  Members of underrepresented groups are strongly encouraged to apply.
