The Division of Neurotherapeutics at Massachusetts General Hospital/Harvard Medical School is seeking applicants for a multi-year postdoctoral fellowship in the areas of neuroimaging and neuromodulation for psychiatric disorders (start date: ASAP; supervisors: Tina Chou, PhD, and Darin Dougherty, MD). The fellow will be trained to administer a novel form of brain stimulation, low intensity focused ultrasound pulsation (LIFUP) or transcranial focused ultrasound (tFUS). The fellow will also be responsible for collecting and analyzing neuroimaging data (task and resting state BOLD fMRI, ASL, diffusion) examining LIFUP/tFUS’ effects on the brain. The overall goal is to investigate the therapeutic potential of LIFUP/tFUS for treatment-resistant obsessive-compulsive disorder and generalized anxiety disorder.

This position is best suited for an applicant with a PhD in psychology or neuroscience. Candidates must have experience collecting and analyzing neuroimaging data (MATLAB SPM, functional connectivity analyses, and/or ASL analyses). Prior experience with brain stimulation and working with clinical populations is a plus, but not required. The fellow will also be working with a team of research assistants; strong interpersonal and effective communication skills are a must.

Our laboratory is part of the Athinoula A. Martinos Center for Biomedical Imaging, one of the world’s largest and most diverse human neuroscience centers. The fellow will gain experience working with a novel form of neuromodulation and have access to unique clinical neuroimaging datasets. The fellow will have multiple opportunities for publications and professional career development activities.

Candidates should send a cover letter, CV, and the names of 2-3 references to Tina Chou, PhD at tchou@mgh.harvard.edu. The cover letter should include a description of past experiences relevant to this position as well as goals the fellow would like to achieve during and after the fellowship. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis.

MGH is an equal-opportunity employer and welcomes applicants from any ethnicity, gender, nationality, or background.
