excited to announce quite a lineup of events this semester with you, so be

- *March 6th at 12 pm, Humstone*: Writing Workshop with Eve O'Connor and
Dylan Nelson
- We will workshop dissertation chapters by American Studies students
Eve and Dylan. Dinner will be provided! Chapters will be
circulated beforehand.
- *March 16th* *at 12 pm, Location TBD*: Guest Speaker Sophie Lewis

- Sophie Lewis, author of *Full Surrogacy Now: Feminism Against
Family *(2019) and *Abolish the Family: A Manifesto for Care and
Family *(2022). Working in Feminist, Queer, and Trans Studies, Sophie
Lewis critiques and rethinks the family structure in how it has been used
to control and harm marginalized communities. Dinner will be provided.
- *March 18th at 4-5 pm, Location TBD*: Publishing Articles in
Humanities Journals with Dr. Bo Ruberg

- This session is led by Prof. Bo Ruberg, Professor of Film & Media
Studies at the University of California, Irvine and co-editor-in-chief of
the *Journal of Cinema and Media Studies*, the leading venue for
humanistic media studies scholarship. In this session, graduate students
will learn about the process of publishing articles in journals - from
submitting to going through peer review and finalizing a manuscript.
Students will receive advice and behind-the-scenes tips on preparing
successful submissions. They will also have the opportunity to ask
questions and receive feedback on article concepts

- Alumni and Professor of History at Catholic University Dr. Michael
Kimmage will meet with us to discuss his upcoming book *Collisions:
The Origins of the War in Ukraine and the New Global Instability* as
well as journalism and alt-ac career paths.
- *April 24th at 5 pm, Location TBD*: Guest Speaker event with Dr.

- Barnard College Professor of Women's, Gender, & Sexuality Studies
Dr. Neferti Tadiar will present an academic talk. Her work focuses on
Southeast Asia and Philippine Studies, third world and transnational
feminisms, cultural studies, and global capitalism. Her most
recent book is *Remaindered

University Press. Dinner will be provided.
