What to expect:

Dear Cronkhite Residents,
I'm writing to update you about some changes to building access in the interests of safety for both students and College Admissions, Financial Aid, and Student Employment staff.
Starting at 9:00 a.m. on Monday, February 26,
* The inner door in the vestibule area will be locked at all times and only accessible to the Harvard community via HUID swipe.
o Undergraduates will have the ability to swipe anytime, similar to the other swipe points in Cronkhite already.
o The outermost door on Brattle Street will continue to remain unlocked.
* Visitors to Admissions and Financial Aid (FAO) will have to request access to the building and the office through the new buzzer/doorbell camera in the front vestibule, which was installed over the winter break.
o This system is ONLY for Admissions, Financial Aid, and Student Employment office use.
o It has no recording attached; it simply allows Admissions and Financial Aid staff to view who is in the vestibule asking for entrance into the building and the office.
o
We anticipate that these changes may cause some confusion at first. In order to minimize that, we want to remind you of the following.
* Package delivery: You must use your assigned campus mailbox address. Do NOT have packages delivered to the street address. This ensures that your packages will arrive safely and in a timely manner.
* Food delivery: Please make sure you pick up your delivery promptly to avoid any concerns about accessible pathways, rodents/pests, or unsanitary health concerns.
o Shelving has been added to the vestibule for these deliveries.
* Student building and room lockouts: If you need assistance getting into Cronkhite and/or your dorm room, please contact Securitas (617) 496-9370. (The Admissions, Financial Aid, and Student Employment Office is unable to assist with this.)
If you lock yourself out of your room:
8am - 4pm: Call Securitas (617-496-9370) and someone will be dispatched to help you
4pm - 8am: see the Security Guard in the office near the elevators
TUTORS WILL NOT HAVE SPARE KEYS.
Lost keys - if you have misplaced or lost your key and need a new one, please see your respective Building Manager in their office during office hours (8am-4pm, M-F).
Thank you very much for your help in keeping our Cronkhite community safe, healthy and happy!
Manny, Mike, Mario,
Dear Cronkers,
I have recently been made aware of some late-night noise issues in the 2nd
floor common space. Please remember that quiet hours begin at 10PM on
weeknights (2 AM on the weekends) and extend until 10AM. For late night
study sessions, a great alternative to the 2nd floor common room is the
basement lounge, which does not border any bedrooms.
Regardless of the time of day, the best way to handle noise-related issues
with neighbors is clear and respectful communication. If a neighbor is
being disruptive, you should communicate directly with that person.
If a peer approaches you about your noise levels and asks you to quiet
down, it's *extremely important* to respect that request. An attitude of
mutual respect and kindness is the best way to maintain a well-functioning
community! And remember, you're likely to engage in these kinds of
co-resident communications for many years- whether in a dorm, apartment, or
home. Being a good neighbor is an important skill! Let's all work on being
better neighbors going forward.
Best wishes,
Hailey (Cronkhite/Currier Tutor)
