Dear Davis Center and Harvard Community,
After four years of dedicated service, Joan Gabel recently left the Davis Center to pursue
a graduate education and career in environmental science and policy. She has been an
invaluable member of our team, and while we wish her all the best in her new life, she
will be sorely missed.
I'm pleased to announce that Robyn Angley will continue on at the Davis Center as the
new Research Programs Coordinator. Robyn has worked at the Center since October 2010 in
various roles as the Research Assistant on the Project on Islam in Eurasia and as
Assistant to the Outreach Program.
We are fortunate to have found Robyn. She received her Ph.D. in International Relations
and History from Boston University, where she worked for six years as a Research Fellow at
the Institute for the Study of Conflict, Ideology and Policy. Her research focuses on the
Caucasus, Central Asia, and the Russian Federation, with particular attention to Georgian
politics, the Russian North Caucasus, and the development of civil society in post-Soviet
states.
Robyn will be managing the fellows and visitors program, the center associates program,
the graduate student associates program, and student grants and awards for Ph.D.
candidates. She can be reached at (617) 495-4038 and
rangley@fas.harvard.edu<mailto:rangley@fas.harvard.edu>.
Please join me in welcoming her to her new position at the Davis Center.
