Stop by the 3rd floor of the CGIS South building this Wednesday to
browse an array of books on Russian and Soviet history. The books are
in both English and Russian, among other languages, and cover both the
imperial period, the 1917 Revolution, the Soviet period, and some on
the post-Soviet period.
Emeritus Professor Richard Pipes was a member of the Harvard faculty
from 1950 until his retirement in 1996, and was involved with the
Davis Center throughout his career. He is the author of numerous major
works on Russian history, including /The Unknown Lenin /in 1996,
/Russia Under the Bolshevik Regime/, and /The Russian Revolution/. He
chaired the CIA's "Team B" during that competitive analysis exercise
in 1976, and was the head of the East European and Soviet desk at the
National Security Council under President Ronald Reagan.
