December 2022
74th Annual Brown University Latin Carol
Celebration<https://classics.fas.harvard.edu/boston-area-classics-calend…
Mon., Dec. 5, 8 p.m.
BROWN UNIVERSITY, Sayles Hall Auditorium, 81 Waterman Street, Providence RI 02912
The Department of Classics presents the 74th Latin Carol Celebration! This joyful program
of readings and songs in the spirit of the season is conducted entirely in Latin (with a
bit of ancient Greek and Sanskrit). English translations are provided for those whose
Latin is a little (or a lot!) rusty.
The Latin Carol Celebration will feature seasonal readings by President Christina H.
Paxson and members of the Department of Classics. There will be a musical prelude and
accompaniment by University Organist Mark Steinbach, plus the Chattertocks' rendition
of the The Twelve Days of Christmas and a special arrangement by the Brown Madrigal
Singers.
The Latin Carol Celebration is free and open to the public and lasts a little over an
hour. This year, the popular event will take place on Brown’s campus, in the Sayles Hall
Auditorium, 81 Waterman Street, Providence, RI 02912. Parking on/near Brown's campus
is minimal, so please refer to Brown's Visitor Parking
site<https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=https-3A__brown.us3.list…
for guidance.
We are delighted to continue this time-honored tradition and look forward to seeing
everyone!
