The Center for European Studies is soliciting undergraduate applications for
European Travel Grants for
Senior Thesis Research for summer 2005
Undergraduate Summer Travel Grants support summer research in Europe for
juniors in the Harvard FAS preparing senior theses on political,
historical, economic, social, cultural, and intellectual trends in modern
or contemporary Europe. The Center offers grants up to $5,000 for senior
research conducted abroad during the summer break.
Application forms are available at the CES website. Please note - CES
utilizes the centralized application process conducted at the OCS
Fellowships office. The deadline for receipt of applications at the Office
of Career Services is noon on Monday February 28, 2005. For complete

A Conversation with Jim Wallis and Ronald Thiemann
Monday November 1 at 6:00 pm
in the Kresge Room on the first floor of the Barker Center
(across from the Thompson Room)
The speakers will briefly introduce their views on the role of religion in
the current elections. We will then have extensive time for questions and
discussion.
Sponsored by the Committee on the Study of Religion
Jim Wallis is a speaker, author, activist, and international commentator on
ethics and public life. He was a founder of Sojourners - Christians for
justice and peace - and continues to serve as the editor of Sojourners
magazine. He also co-founded Call to Renewal, a national federation of
churches, denominations, and faith-based organizations from across the
theological and political spectrum working to overcome poverty. He offers
regular commentary and analysis for radio and television and teaches a
course at Harvard University on Faith, Politics, and Society.
Ronald Thiemann is a professor of religion and society at Harvard Divinity
School. He is a Faculty Fellow at the John F. Kennedy Schools Hauser
Center for Nonprofit Organizations and serves on the steering committee of
the centers Joint Program in Religion and Public Life. His books include
Constructing a Public Theology: The Church in a Pluralistic Culture and
Religion in Public Life: A Dilemma for Democracy; he is also an editor of
Who Will Provide: The Changing Role of Religion in American Social Welfare.
