The Harvard-Yenching Institute offers highly competitive fellowships for
study abroad in China and Korea. The program is open to juniors wishing to
spend a year abroad before entering their senior year and graduating
seniors (although preference will be given to undergraduates.) Students
will be placed according to their language ability and, if appropriate,
they may attend other university courses in the local language. This
program is not limited to East Asian Studies concentrators. I hope that

Harvard-Yenching Institute offers highly competitive fellowships for study
abroad in China and Korea. The program is open to juniors wishing to spend
a year abroad before entering their senior year and graduating seniors

The Harvard-Yenching Institute offers 14 fellowships to spend an academic
year at 4 of our longstanding partner universities: Ewha University
(2) Fudan University (3), Nanjing University (3) and Peking University
(3). The fellowships provide tuition, board and a small stipend. In
addition, the Harvard-Yenching Institute provides a $2000 fellowship to
cover roundtrip airfare and incidentals.
Applicants should be in Group II or higher and should have completed
2nd-year level language study by the end of the application year.
Application Process: Applicants are responsible for submitting one
complete application consisting of the following:
- Application (attached)
- Curriculum vitae
- Official Harvard transcript of grades
- Two letters of recommendation
- Brief statement indicating applicant's objectives for the
academic year
Complete applications are due by February 1, 2005 with final selection
