Special event coming up at Harvard Divinity School:
One week from today, on February 27, the Middle East's first female judge in the
religious courts, Judge Kholoud Al-Faqih, will visit campus for "Women's Rights
in a Man's World: Adjudicating, Interpreting, and Enforcing Sharia Law in

Professor of Divinity and author of A Quiet Revolution: The Veil's Resurgence, from
the Middle East to America, will join in conversation with Judge Al-Faqih, who in 2009 was
appointed to the Ramallah Sharia Court in the West Bank, Palestinian Territories and who
has been named one of the 10 most powerful Arab women.
