Many of you have already received this, but I
wanted to make sure it went out to the most updated list ..., Thomas Lewis
Dear friends and colleagues,
I am writing you on behalf of the Standing
Committee of the Study of Religion to remind
you--amid all the excitement and events of this
weekto put the September 26 gathering on
Religious Studies in the Contemporary University in your calendars.
George Rupp will draw on his own experience at
Harvard and elsewhere to reflect on the
relationship of religious studies to the
humanities and social and natural sciences
today. This will be followed by responses by
Marla Frederick, Parimal Patil, and Michael
Puett, with ample opportunity for the audience to join the conversation.
We know this will be a great discussion, and a
wonderful beginning to this school year, and we hope to see you there.
So please mark your calendars!
For administrative purposes, we need to know by
this Friday, September 15, whether you will be
joining us for the colloquium and the reception
following. If you havent already, please RSVP
Kit Jaeger, at kjaeger(a)fas.harvard.edu.
Best wishes on the opening days of the school year--
Bob Orsi
