Dear Religion Concentrators,
I just want to alert you to an undergraduate seminar I am teaching
this fall, "World Religions in Boston"
(
http://my.harvard.edu/icb/icb.do?keyword=k8038). Our first meeting
is next Thursday from 1:00 to 3:00, but if you're interested you
should look at the site-visit components too: We'll have visits to
the Sri Lakshmi Temple, Gurdwara Guru Nanak Darbar, the Islamic
Center of Boston, and Temple Vietnam, so there are a few non-class
times you'd need to reserve.
This is an opportunity to become better acquainted with some of
Boston's religious communities, especially those that are less well
known, and to develop your ethnographic skills, learning from site
visits, careful observation, and fieldnotes. There will be
considerable latitude in your choice of research topics for your own
paper.
Check out the syllabus and, if you're curious, look at World
Religions in Boston online
http://www.fas.harvard.edu/~pluralsm/98wrb/ There's an application
under "Course Documents." Religion concentrators will certainly get
serious consideration! Email me if you have any questions.
All the best as you start this first week of the term.
