Dear all,
Evelyn and I are excited to start QSE 301: A Practical and Effective Toolkit for Teaching and Research, next Tuesday! As you might have already seen, the course is up on the catalog<https://courses.my.harvard.edu/psp/courses/EMPLOYEE/EMPL/h/?tab=HU_CLASS_SE…>. Please sign up when you get a chance. There is a petition that you have to submit (no need to add anything to the petition) and we have to approve since the course is restricted only to QSE students.
We will meet Tu, Th 12–1:15pm. I have reserved LISE 303, but I don’t yet have a confirmation for it. If we don’t get the room by Tuesday, I propose that we meet in the QSE G1 conference room if you all are ok with it. I have also talked to Ann and she has happily agreed to order food. Also, Yi has volunteered to be our point of contact for the food and will inform Ann what to order. The budget is similar to your Friday lunches. Please talk to Yi if you have any particular preference/restriction for the food and he will inform Ann. (Thanks Yi!)
If you have any questions or concerns, do not hesitate to ping me on Slack or send an email to us.
See y’all next Tuesday.
Best,
Nishant
Dear QSE students,
We would like to draw your attention to QSE 210a: "Introduction to Quantum
Information Science", one of the four required “core” courses in the QSE
curriculum, that has been specifically designed for the QSE program. This
course is meant to provide you with the fundamental concepts of quantum
information science and bring you to the cutting edge research frontier in
the field. We strongly encourage you to take this course early on in your
graduate studies. While you might have taken quantum information courses
during your undergraduate studies, QSE210a will help to solidify those
concepts within the broader context of the research opportunities you are
encountering, and within your learning cohort. We hope that this will
greatly enrich your learning experience in this area and will help you to
jump start your research in the field.
If you have any questions or concerns about the course, do not hesitate to
contact any of us directly.
With very best wishes,
Evelyn, John, Nishant and Misha
Hello,
John would like to schedule brief meetings with you all. He has opened his calendar up to this Saturday afternoon. once you have picked a time, I will respond with a zoom link for the meeting. Here is the Calendly poll to choose a time<https://calendly.com/d/zk2-v85-fq6/qsa-student-meetings>. If you are not available on Sat, please let me know and we can work out another convenient time.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
Thanks,
Erica

Hi Nishant,
I'm a faculty member at MIT offering a second iteration of a course titled "Quantum Machines in a Classical World" (2.S982) which in its first iteration last year was very well reviewed by grad students working on quantum engineering. This year, I've received at least a couple of enquiries from Harvard students about attending the course. So I wonder whether you could broadcast the details of the course over at Harvard. The course flyer is attached below; feel free to cc me in your broadcast email in case students would like to contact me directly.
Thanks,
Vivishek

Good morning,
For the second year, HQI and MIT CQE-iQuISE have partnered to teach high schoolers about quantum science and technology! We are looking to recruit graduate students to give a brief talk and mentor a small group of 3-4 high school students through a guided final project over the course of a semester. The estimated time commitment is ~2 hrs per week over the course of 3 months. This is a great opportunity to practice your science communication skills while also giving young students the opportunity to build meaningful connections with active science researchers! The program meets weekly over Zoom, and is expected to start mid-February. Appropriate program-related costs, e.g. food and demo equipment, will be reimbursed.
If this sounds exciting to you, fill out our interest form: link<https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=https-3A__forms.gle_7sdEcSWNbMan…>

Dear Clare,
I hope that you had a great break! I’m writing with some programming this month by the Fellowships & Writing Center, which we haven’t had much opportunity to advertise given the break. Would you please publicize our Winter Workshops series to students in your program?
With thanks and best wishes,
