Please see below for a talk that may be of interest to the HQI community.
Hi Clare and Nishant,
Following is a very exciting talk that many at HQI or Physics would enjoy. Could you
please help advertise it?
Thanks,
Anurag

Subject: [qip] Group meeting Friday - Pedram Roushan (Google)
Dear quanta,
This Friday, we will have our regular group meeting at the usual time and location (Friday
11am, Cosman room 6C-442).
We have a special guest from Google: Pedram Roushan is visiting MIT this Friday, and he
will talk at the group meeting. Here is his talk title and abstract.
Toward discovering novel quantum dynamics on a NISQ processor
In 2019, it was experimentally demonstrated that a quantum processor could perform certain
computational tasks exponentially faster than a classical computer [1]. Going beyond this
milestone, we seek to utilize these Noisy Intermediate Scale Quantum (NISQ) processors to
study computationally intractable physics problems. I will present some of our recent
works that can be classified as studying dynamics in interacting spin systems far away
from equilibrium [2], as well as some results on leveraging topological properties of
Hamiltonians relevant to error correction codes [3]. The aim of the talk is to provide a
sense of what NISQ discoveries to anticipate and a time scale for them.
