*BLACK ALL YEAR 2012
Sunday, Jan 29, 4-7pm
Location: Freedom House
14 Crawford St. (Grove Hall)
Dorchester, MA 02121
In anticipation of Black History Month, and in support of our come-unity;
LightSpeed
Entertainment, Inc. and your friends are kicking off an event for all/the
ages. "Black All
Year" is a January celebration of Art, Culture and Black History, inviting
the diaspora to
continuously appreciate their beginnings and who they are today. Families,
youth and all
are welcome to join the crowd as we kick off a gala that never ends for a
unification that
remains.
"Black all Year" supports Black History Month and the livelihood of our
youth, families
and come-unity members. By recalling our historical success and showcasing
the best of
our creativity, and human resources, we are esteemed by and connected to
the natural
wealth of our come-unity. Through this simple notion of recognizing &
loving all that we
have inherited, we encourage togetherness and work toward the conclusion of
healthier
communities and families.
Inspired by and in honor of her noble legacy; we hold this celebration in
tribute to Harriet
Tubman and great women leaders in history and today. In alignment with this
theme the
bulk of artists scheduled to perform are women. These leading ladies, in
company with a
few talented gents; bring you an afternoon of expression and art that is
awe inspiring; a
tribute that is truly worthy of the excellence of Harriet Tubman.

*Religious Worlds of New York: Teaching the Everday Life of American
Religious Diversity - The Interfaith Center of New York and Union
Theological Seminary*
The Interfaith Center of New York and Union Theological Seminary are
delighted to announce a new educational program, funded by a grant from the
National Endowment for the Humanities. In July of 2012, we will host an
N.E.H. summer institute for school teachers, entitled *Religious Worlds of
New York: Teaching the Everyday Life of American Religious Diversity*. This
innovative program will help public, private, and parochial school teachers
teach more effectively about the rich religious diversity of the United
States. It will introduce participants to religious traditions that are
part of the fabric of American life, help them distinguish between academic
and devotional approaches to the study of religion, and offer them the
pedagogic tools they need to teach their students about *lived religion*,
in addition to the conventional world religions curriculum. Applications
from teachers are due by March 1st, 2012. For detailed information about
the institute see religiousworldsnyc.org or email
hgoldschmidt(a)interfaithcenter.org, 212-870-3514.
