*Dear all, *
*
If you’re currently researching 20th century U.S. history, we invite you
to join us for our (bi)monthly workshop sessions, held in person with a
hybrid option. This graduate student workshop is led by Professors Lisa
McGirr and Liz Cohen and co-organized by two grad students, Kenneth
Alyass and Victoria Gonzalez Maltes.
The workshop will meet on Tuesdays from 6 to 7:30 pm. Our first meeting
will be on Tuesday, September 27. While this workshop is designed for
students conducting research (G3 and above), G1s and G2s are welcome to
attend. You do not have to be presenting work this year to participate
in the workshop. Our goal is to foster a community of scholarship among
graduate students working in this field.
*I**f you're interested in attending and are not already on our email
list, you can **sign up here <https://forms.gle/aRvi176KXc1dekcw6>**.*
We'd be delighted to welcome and connect with you.
Call for Papers:We are looking for graduate students to share their
written work in the Fall semester. If you have a piece of writing that
you are looking to workshop, please write to us with a short proposal (a
paragraph or two). This semester we are accepting submissions on a
rolling basis, but if you are interested in presenting in September or
October, please write to us soon.
We encourage students at different stages of their research to present
their work. This can include a dissertation prospectus, a conference
paper, a chapter or a shorter work-in-progress paper trying out an
argument. We encourage submissions of works in progress, including if
they are not yet very polished: we hope the workshop can be a supportive
space for students to develop ideas and receive feedback for research
that is still in its early stages. *The paper presented at the workshop
should not exceed article length (35-40 pages).*
If you are unsure of when you would like to present, or if you are
thinking of presenting later in the semester or in the year, please
write to us anyway to signal your interest.
If you have any questions, please reach out to Ken
(kalyass(a)g.harvard.edu <mailto:kenkalyass@g.harvard.edu>) or Victoria
(vgonzalezmaltes(a)g.harvard.edu <mailto:vgonzalezmaltes@fas.harvard.edu>).
We look forward to seeing you soon!
Best wishes,
Victoria Gonzalez Maltes and Kenneth Alyass

Dear all,
I wanted to pass along a CFP for a History of Science working group that
I'll be co-organizing this fall. We'd love to have more participation from
history grad students, so please submit or get in touch with any questions!
Here's the CFP:
The Modern Sciences Working Group is inviting members of the History of
Science community and related fields to present their work to the group
this fall. If you are interested, please *sign up via this survey
<https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1eUsj092s0HNDrKUVBpBALDmO77hlIEVRUw06oJtIgN…>
by
Wednesday, August 24th*.
MSWG is a forum for graduate students, post-doctoral fellows, visiting
scholars, and faculty to share ideas and discuss their work in the 'modern'
(roughly post-1800) history of science. As in past semesters, we welcome
work on all topics, across geographic regions, time periods, and
methodologies, and at any stage from early draft to pre-publication.
*Meetings will tentatively be held on Wednesdays at noon*, likely in a
hybrid format, with lunch served for in-person attendees.
If you have any questions, please reach out to Oliver (
olazarus(a)g.harvard.edu) or Sal (salinasuri(a)g.harvard.edu). We can't wait to
see you in a few weeks!
Best wishes,
Oliver and Sal
