*4:30-6:00 PM*
Fong Auditorium (110 Boylston Hall, Harvard University)

*The Manchester Architectural Research Centre (University of Manchester, UK)
*

Dr. Diana Eck, Harvard University
Join us for a panel discussion on the social, political, and religious
implications of multi-faith spaces. Are these spaces, made increasingly
available to the public by both public and private organizations, a place
where divergent worldviews might be brought together for reconciliation? Do
multi-faith spaces offer fertile ground for new religious practices might
thrive? Are these spaces constructed to promote narrow socio-political
agendas that focus on cohesion in a world of fragmentation? Or are multi-
faith spaces simply attempts to appease customers in places such as
airports, shopping centers, or universities? Drs. Ralf Brand, Andrew
Crompton, and Chris Hewson will share insights of their research team from
this multi-year project.
Dr. Diana Eck, Director of the Pluralism Project at Harvard University, will
moderate this event.
This event is hosted by the Pluralism Project at Harvard

Dear friends of the Pluralism Project,
For the past couple of years, the Pluralism Project has served on the
advisory council of “Multifaith Spaces as Symptoms and Agents of Change,” a
research project of the Manchester Architectural Research Centre at the
University of Manchester, UK. Currently, the research team from Manchester
is touring multi-faith spaces in New England and, as a part of their trip to
the Boston area, will be presenting on their work next Tuesday, September
6th at Harvard University. The details for this event can be found below. We
look forward to welcoming the research team and we hope that you will be
able to join us for Tuesday's panel presentation which will be moderated by
Dr. Diana Eck.
Best wishes,
