*CMEI Student Seminar Series with HGSE Doctoral Candidate Brendan Randall
*Wednesday, October 30, 12pm-1pm
Harvard Graduate School of Education, 6 Appian Way, Cambridge, MA.
Room G-05, basement of Gutman Library
Long a staple method in professional schools, case studies are a powerful
vehicle to promote attitudes and skills as well as knowledge. Diana Eck, a
professor at Harvard University and Director of the Pluralism Project, has
pioneered the use of case studies to examine the challenges of religious
diversity and tolerance. The work of Professor Eck and the Pluralism
Project to create a catalog of case studies presents an invaluable resource
for educators at all levels. This presentation will examine the use of
case studies to promote religious tolerance as well as literacy.
In order to welcome those who are available only during the lunch hour, we
will officially conclude this event at 1pm. However, those who are
interested are welcome to stay later for additional discussion or Q&A. This
event is free and open to the public. More information can be found

*Making Our Way: Muslim Women in North America *
*with Dr. Ingrid Mattson, former President of the Islamic Society of North
America*
*Saturday, October 26th, Reception: 6 PM, Event: 7:30 PM*
*The Paulist Center, 5 Park Street, Boston, MA
*
Since 9/11, Muslims in North America have been under a microscope. In
particular, the experience of Muslim women has been frequently discussed
and scrutinized. This close examination of the lives of Muslims has
highlighted the diversity of perspectives within the Muslim community as
well as a lot of misinformation and Islamaphobic attitudes from outside the
Muslim community.
Please join Cooperative Metropolitan Ministries (CMM) and The Paulist
Center for this program that will bring together an extraordinary panel of
Muslim women—featuring Dr. Ingrid Mattson, former President of the Islamic
Society of North America—to share their perspectives on Muslim Women’s
Experience in North America, as it has been shaped by 9/11 and other recent
events.
