The Massachusetts Council of Churches 110th Annual Meeting & Installation
of the Rev. Laura Everett
Saturday April 28, 2012, 8.30am-2pm
Wellesley Hills Congregational Church, 207 Washington St, Wellesley, MA
The last few years have brought about radical changes in the way society
communicates. Increasing numbers of Americans connect via Twitter,
Facebook, blogs as well as a host of emerging social media platforms. The
Church is faced with a fascinating dilemma: how might these tools be
engaged to build the Kingdom of God and heal the divisions in the Body of
Christ?
Panelists Rev. Keith Anderson,Domenico Bettinelli, Jr., and Rev. Dr.
Victoria Weinstein will explore the theological issues raised through new
media. In the second part, attendees will learn more about the practical
application of these tools for ministry from a diverse array of lay and
ordained practitioners. Rev. Dr. Horace Allen will be honored with the
Knapp Ecumenical award for his work on the Revised Common Lectionary. As we
join together in worship, we will install Rev. Laura Everett as the
Executive Director of the Massachusetts Council of Churches. Event

*Fordson: Faith, Fasting, Football* *- Screening & Discussion with the
Director*
Thursday, April 12, 5pm - 7.30pm (TONIGHT!)
The Fong Auditorium, Boylston Hall, Harvard Yard
The Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal Islamic Studies Program at Harvard University
invites you to a screening and discussion of *Fordson: Faith, Fasting,
Football. *This film follows a predominately Arab-American high school
football team from a working-class Detroit suburb as they practice for
their big cross-town rivalry game during the last ten days of Ramadan,
revealing a community holding onto its Islamic faith while they struggle
for acceptance in post 9/11 America.
Through the eyes of the team, their coaches, and their fans, we get an
unprecedented glimpse inside the lives of a community that is home to the
largest concentration of Arabs in any city outside of the Middle East, and
their determination to hold on to the American Dream. As Fordson alum Brian
Mosallam states: "We are the luckiest people in the world to be born and
live in America."
Director Rashid Ghazi will be present to discuss the film and answer
audience questions. This event is co-sponsored by the Pluralism Project and
the Harvard Foundation.
