Dear Applicants,
Planning to attend tomorrow's (Saturday 6/27) Virtual Health Professions Fair (see below for instructions for how to register with CareerEco)? Then you will find this short video - Making the Most of A Virtual Fair - helpful:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qagpus1F89s
Some of you will recognize two of the presenters who have visited us at Harvard in the past:
Christian Essman, Senior Director of Admissions and Financial Aid at Case Western Reserve School of Medicine (SOM) and Jennifer Kimble, Director of Admissions at Vanderbilt SOM.
The other presenters are: Sandra Quezada, MD, Dean of Admissions & Assistant Dean for Academic and Multicultural Affairs at the University of Maryland SOM; Paula Watkins, Assistant Dean of Admissions at Rowan University School of Osteopathic Medicine in Stratford, NJ; and Olivia Sheridan, Assistant Dean for Admissions at the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine.
As a current applicant, you may still be finalizing your school list, so the fair gives you a chance to visit with schools you are still hoping to learn more about before adding them to your list. For schools already on your list, the fair provides the opportunity to ask your own questions as well as to read and view answers to questions asked by other applicants and students attending the fair.
For those of you not yet applying, attending virtual health professions school fairs are a great way to learn more about schools to which you may apply in the future, and also for learning more about the admissions process and criteria generally.
Have fun at the Fair!

Dear 2021 applicants,
If you have already submitted your AMCAS you should have received the message from the AMCAS Outreach Team below. If you have not yet submitted, I would guess that you are not on their 2021 applicant list yet so you likely did not get this email from them.
Everyone: Please carefully read all portions of the communication from AMCAS included in the emails below (please scroll down all the way to the end of this message) for important updates about AMCAS submission, medical school timelines, and transcript ordering and sending (*please note that AMCAS as well as your OCS Premed advisers asks you to direct any questions about transcript transmission to the Registrar at the school where you took the courses; questions about problems with receipt of your transcript should be directed to AMCAS). For information about ordering and transmission of your Harvard College transcript, see the slides on this topic at https://ocs.fas.harvard.edu/amcas > Completing the AMCAS 2021 Application<https://ocs.fas.harvard.edu/files/ocs/files/amcas_2020_presentation.pdf> (pdf)) and the "FAQs for Applicants" section further down on the same page (at https://ocs.fas.harvard.edu/amcas).
I will be holding the last of our six AMCAS Q/A today, 6/10, from 4 to 5pm - please register in Crimson Careers.
Good luck finalizing and submitting AMCAS and any other common applications you are completing. We send you our best wishes for the official launch of your medical school application!

Subject: AMCAS Operations Update
As we continue to navigate the 2021 AMCAS application cycle, we want to keep you informed of communications to applicants.
[AMCAS for Advisors]
Dear Advisors,
We hope this message finds you and your loved ones well during this time. As we continue to navigate the 2021 AMCAS application cycle, we want to keep you informed of communications to applicants. The below message was sent to applicants on Friday, June 5 to help correct some misinformation and confusion around this current cycle.
We wanted to highlight the following:
* Information on how applicants can submit transcripts is available here<https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=https-3A__click.email.aamc.org_-…>. If there are any questions about transcript transmission for your institution, please contact your registrar. The correct address registrars should mail official transcripts to is:
AMCAS, Attn: Transcripts
AAMC Medical School Application Services
PO BOX 57326
Washington, DC 20037
* Please note, paper transcripts are the slowest method of transcript delivery, but there are currently no delays in receiving or processing paper transcripts or with verifying applications. Daily processing updates can be found on our website<https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=https-3A__click.email.aamc.org_-…> and Twitter feed (@AMCASinfo).
We thank you for your continued partnership and support during this uncommon cycle. Please do not hesitate to contact us at advisors(a)aamc.org<https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=https-3A__click.email.aamc.org_-…> or (202) 828-0950 if you have any questions.
Best regards,
AMCAS Outreach

Dear Applicant,
We hope this message finds you and your loved ones safe and healthy. Your decision to enter the field of medicine is admirable. The next generation of physicians is important now more than ever, especially amid the global coronavirus pandemic and ongoing civil unrest.
We are here to support you in achieving your goals as future physicians and navigating this challenging AMCAS application cycle. As a result, the AMCAS team would like to correct some misinformation we have seen recently online and on social media.
Medical School Admissions
Schools understand the many challenges faced by applicants during this cycle and are aware of the AMCAS processing timelines. They are taking into consideration the delays in MCAT scores and transcripts while developing their internal processes and acknowledge the need to remain flexible during the application process. Please review the Medical School Admission Requirements<https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=https-3A__click.email.aamc.org_-…> and Participating Medical Schools and Deadlines <https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=https-3A__click.email.aamc.org_-…> for updates provided by medical schools.
Application Processing
Earlier this week, the AAMC office building was damaged during protests in Washington, DC. Thankfully, no one was injured, and the building is now secure. This incident has not caused any delays in the processing of AMCAS applications. AMCAS staff have been working remotely since the middle of March and have processes in place for operational adjustments.
Please note that due to the rapidly changing environment, AMCAS verification may take up to eight weeks for the 2021 cycle. Currently, verification of submitted applications are tracking ahead of this timeline. You will receive application status updates via email and we will continue to post daily processing updates to our Twitter feed (@AMCASinfo) and on our website<https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=https-3A__click.email.aamc.org_-…>.
Transcripts
To avoid processing delays, AMCAS developed expanded solutions with undergraduate institutions to accept transcripts. Please follow instructions on your registrar's webpage or contact your registrar directly for more information. AMCAS is accepting and processing transcripts that are submitted electronically, by email, fax, and regular mail.
AMCAS is retrieving paper transcripts from the PO Box (listed on the transcript request form) - please do not send paper transcripts to any alternate address. Please review processing timelines<https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=https-3A__click.email.aamc.org_-…>, as mailed transcripts take longer to receive and process than other methods. You will receive an email once your transcript is processed and has been marked "Received." We will post transcript processing timelines updates to our Twitter feed (@AMCASinfo) and on our website <https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=https-3A__click.email.aamc.org_-…> .
Please come to the AAMC for the latest information. We will continue to provide updates on our website<https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=https-3A__click.email.aamc.org_-…>, the Coronavirus (COVID-19) and AMCAS<https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=https-3A__click.email.aamc.org_-…> page, and Twitter feed (@AMCASinfo).
We hope you and your loved ones are safe and healthy during this time. Please feel free to contact the AAMC Services Contact Center at amcas(a)aamc.org<mailto:amcas@aamc.org?subject=> or (202) 828-0600 if you have any questions about completing your application. Please note they are experiencing higher than expected volume and working diligently to answer your inquiries as quickly as possible and ask for your patience.
Warm regards,
AMCAS Outreach
