Dear 2024-2025 Medical School Applicant,
Welcome to MCS medical school application support and advising! Our workshop series for 2024-25 applicants has now been launched with the recent Navigating the Medical School Application Process webinar, which some of you attended live. If you were not able to attend, we ask that you view the recording of this webinar here<https://careerservices.fas.harvard.edu/videos/the-medical-school-applicatio…>, which is protected by HarvardKey (alumni who have not claimed their HarvardKey can register here<https://alumni.harvard.edu/help/site-access/registration#reginstructions>). The handout for the workshop is attached to this email. (If you are applying to other health professions schools, be sure to reach out to us so that we can make sure you are oriented to the resources for your application process.)
Overview of the process for 2025 matriculants
In order to gain access to medical (or dental or other health professions) school applicant advising appointments with one of the MCS Premed/Pre-Health advisers (Oona Ceder and Rob Harrington), please be sure to follow along to the end of the webinar and complete the forms shared on the final slide. When we receive your forms, your Crimson Careers profile will be updated with a 2025 Applicant 'tag' and you will be ready to book an individual advising appointment with Oona or Rob. As a reminder, if you have already met with one of us, please continue to schedule your individual 30-minute appointments with the same adviser. If you are new to MCS Premed/Pre-health advising, you can book with either one of us. More information on how MCS and your House or Dudley Community Premed Committee and Tutors work with students and alumni planning to apply in the upcoming cycle is included in the webinar presentation.
Also, if you are not already subscribed to the Harvard MCS Med School Applicants List, please do so now so that you will be receiving our emails for 2025 applicants (note that this is the MCS listserv for current applicants, so not the same list as the House premed list you may be subscribed to):
Subscribe at https://lists.fas.harvard.edu/mailman/listinfo/harvardocs-medschool-applica… with a @college.harvard.edu address, @post.harvard.edu address, or @alumni.harvard.edu address. Note: If you do not have a @post or @alumni.harvard.edu email address, please email premed(a)fas.harvard.edu<mailto:premed@fas.harvard.edu> with your name, @college.harvard.edu email, and preferred email so we can verify that you were an undergraduate at Harvard.
Finally, mark your calendars if you wish to attend our spring term webinars for 2025 applicants live:

Are you planning to apply to medical (or another health profession school) next spring/summer? If so, this webinar is for you!
Juniors, seniors, and alumni planning to apply in the next several years are also welcome to attend:
The Medical School Application Process: A Marathon, Not a Sprint
5 - 6:30pm ET, Thursday 11/16 on Zoom
Please register here<https://careerservices.fas.harvard.edu/events/2023/11/16/medical-school-app…>
Note: Attending or viewing the recording of this webinar will onboard you with MCS as a 2024-25 applicant (i.e., 2025 matriculant), and makes you eligible for individual advising for medical school applicants with Oona Ceder or Rob Harrington (the two MCS prehealth advisors). This is a separate onboarding process from that of your House Premed Committee, so you need to onboard with MCS as well as with your House (or Dudley Community) to access the full support for medical and other health profession school applicants offered by the College.
The MCS prehealth advisors will run through all the basic "how-to questions" regarding the medical school application timeline and will discuss and give an overview of College (MCS and House/Dudley Community) support for how to manage letters of recommendation, write your personal statement, complete the AMCAS and other common/primary applications, select schools to apply to, manage secondary applications, what to expect with regard to interviews, how applicants and MCS work with your Premed Tutors and Premed Committees, and how to decide whether this is the right time for you to apply.
If you have accessibility needs or questions related to this event, please contact mcs(a)fas.harvard.edu<mailto:mcs@fas.harvard.edu>.
