Dear 2024 applicants,
Here is the recording of yesterday's (8/17) Interview workshop along with the slides and handouts for the workshop (there are nine attachments in all):

The links to the MMI YouTube videos we mentioned, as well as to the AAMC interview resources, and the Adams House MMI Primer are in the attached "Interview workshop_2023_summary handout." Also be sure not to miss the following resources (from our August 14 email to this list):
* The schools to which you are applying will be communicating their interview format to you. Also see this AAMC MSAR report about each school's interview format: https://students-residents.aamc.org/media/7051/download<https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=https-3A__students-2Dresidents.a…>. Most schools begin interviewing in September.
* 2024 cycle interview formats: The majority of medical and other health professions schools continue to conduct virtual interviews. A few schools are offering applicants a choice between interviewing remotely or in person, or may only be offering in person interviews. Try not to be overly concerned about how the format will impact your application. The schools are paying careful attention to how they can ensure that there is no bias or disadvantage of interviewing remotely, such as their awareness of the fact that some applicants may not have an ideal space from which to do the interview; they understand that some of you may experience a poor wifi connection or may be in a time zone that means that you are possibly meeting them and interviewing early in the morning or later in the day than usual, when you may not be at your best; and all schools will be prepared for the unexpected hiccups that could occur on each side of a virtual interview. If you are concerned that a virtual interview format is placing you at an unfair disadvantage due to unequal access to important resources for doing well in this setting, do not hesitate to reach out to the Admissions Offices directly.
* For general tips and information about the interview day, you can the resources on our website at: https://careerservices.fas.harvard.edu/applying-to-medical-school/ ('Interview Prep' tab) and you will also find helpful resources at https://careerservices.fas.harvard.edu/resources/interviewing/.

HAA Alumni email forwarding update: Many resources on the MCS website, including Interviewing.com<https://careerservices.fas.harvard.edu/resources/interviewing/>, require an active @college.harvard.edu address or HarvardKey login with another Harvard email address (e.g., @fas.harvard.edu, @post.harvard.edu, @g.harvard.edu, @harvard.edu, @alumni.harvard.edu). For some years now, the Harvard Alumni Association (HAA) has not provided access to alumni email forwarding. Fortunately, they are now reactivating email forwarding for members of the classes of 2021, 2022, and 2023. See the HAA website<https://alumni.harvard.edu/help/email-forwarding/forwarding-faq> for more information, including this FAQ:
If you earned a degree in the Classes of 2021, 2022, or 2023, you will have the opportunity to set up a new email forwarding address starting on August 24, 2023 through your HAA Alumni Directory<https://community.alumni.harvard.edu/> profile. As part of our phased approach, we will open the service up to all other eligible members of our alumni community who are not currently using email forwarding in 2024. We will be in touch at that time with detailed information about how to set up your email forwarding address.
If you graduated prior to 2021, we advise you to reach out to the HAA to let them know you need an alumni email forwarding to be able to access important Harvard resources. Ask them if they are able to set up the account for you, and let us know you are in this situation as we are also reaching out to the HAA to see if they can expedite the process for alumni in this situation.
Best,
Oona and Rob

Dear Applicants,
OCS Interview Resources. Later this month, most medical schools will begin to send out interview invitations. Remember that the interview season is long and invitations continue to be extended into March. Here are some ways you can prepare.
* Your House offers 1:1 mock interview prep and you should avail yourself of these resources. Reach out to your assigned non-resident or resident tutor to arrange a mock interview.
* Teams of several Houses partner to arrange mock MMI interview events. Reach out to your Premed Tutors to learn more.
* From the MCS website, sign up for Interviewing.com<https://careerservices.fas.harvard.edu/resources/interviewing/> using your harvard.edu address. There is a section tailored specifically for medical school interviews.
* Use the resources on the MCS premed website about interviews<https://careerservices.fas.harvard.edu/applying-to-medical-school/> (select the 'Interview Prep' tab).
* This Thursday, August 17, 1-2:30pm: Attend the MCS Medical School Interview Prep webinar<https://careerservices.fas.harvard.edu/events/2023/08/17/the-medical-school…>. A recording of the workshop will be sent out over this list. Click here<https://careerservices.fas.harvard.edu/events/2023/08/17/the-medical-school…> to register.
* We ask that only current applicants or seniors who will be applying in a future application cycle sign up. Students applying to other health professions schools (e.g., dental and vet) are also welcome and will find the information relevant to interviewing for those schools.
* Wednesday, August 30, 5-6pm; repeated on Thursday, September 7, 5:30-6:30pm: Join the MCS premed/pre-health advisers for an in-person group activity workshop focusing on practicing MMI collaborative scenarios and building interview skills through team- and scenario-based activities. Click here<https://careerservices.fas.harvard.edu/events/2023/08/30/medical-school-int…> to register for 8/30, and here<https://careerservices.fas.harvard.edu/events/2023/09/07/medical-school-int…> for 9/7 workshop (please register for one of these workshops only).
* Keep an eye out for communication from your Premed Tutors about individual mock interviews and mock MMI events, offered by the House Premed Committees in September.
