Hi all,
Some of you might have seen this already, but we wanted to share since some of you might
want to apply to this school for 2019 matriculation! NYU has created a second independent
school in Long Island.
From a message they sent out recent:
NYU Long Island School of Medicine (NYULISOM) will focus on training and producing primary
care physicians by way of their accelerated three year MD curriculum, shaving one year off
the time to the MD degree. All matriculated students will also be conditionally accepted
through the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP) to the NYU Winthrop primary care
residency of their choice, receiving mentorship from faculty in their chosen fields of
internal medicine, pediatrics, obstetrics & gynecology, or general surgery from day
one of medical school. As with NYUSOM, full-tuition scholarships will be offered to all
NYULISOM students in the MD degree program as long as they are in satisfactory academic
and professional standing regardless of merit or financial need.
Under the leadership of founding Dean Steven Shelov, MD, NYULISOM received preliminary
accreditation by the Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME(r)), the accrediting
body for educational programs at medical schools in the United States and Canada, on
February 12, 2019. Within the coming days applicants will be able to apply for one of the
24 seats in the inaugural NYULISOM class that will begin classes this July.
All applications must be submitted through AMCAS and NYULISOM expects to be listed in
AMCAS as an application option shortly. Once the school is listed in AMCAS, applicants
can submit their application and they will immediately begin application review. They
expect to start interviewing applicants as early as mid-March 2019. If accepted, students
will start classes on July 29, 2019 as part of the Class of 2022.
If students are interested, please continue to check AMCAS and NYULISOM's website at
https://medli.nyu.edu<https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=https-3…
for more information on when applications can be submitted. Additional information on the
school and the application process is available on their website. Should you have further
questions after reviewing their site, please feel free to email NYULISOM's admissions
team led by Dr. Dan Barlev at
