) ** Welcome Back, from your house PRF! ------------------------------------------------------------ What's a PRF (
http://harvard.us11.list-manage.com/track/click?u=dda0ccd00b6d7270a8c9448f3…
) ? For those of you who never met me or took advantage of my study breaks and research assistance, I am your Currier House Peer Research Fellow, here to help you with all things research and library-related. On this first week of classes, read on to learn how to get free textbooks using library resources, how to find books that Harvard doesn't have on hand through Get It services, and find information about a super special upcoming study break being held by yours truly next week. Starting today, if you have any research questions or needs, don't hesitate to email me (gomez01(a)college.harvard.edu (mailto:gomez01@college.harvard.edu) ), and keep an eye out next week for my new study break time. Also, check out our Peer Research Fellows website (
http://harvard.us11.list-manage.com/track/click?u=dda0ccd00b6d7270a8c9448f3…
) for old handouts, workshop materials, upcoming events, and more! -Alexis Gomez Study Space of the Week: Have a favorite study space (
http://harvard.us11.list-manage.com/track/click?u=dda0ccd00b6d7270a8c9448f3…
) at a Harvard library? Tell us! If you fill out this survey (
http://harvard.us11.list-manage.com/track/click?u=dda0ccd00b6d7270a8c9448f3…
) , I'll feature it in an upcoming newsletter. Stay tuned to see which spots your fellow Currierites recommend! (Fill out the survey!) (

) Quick Tips: Get It Services (

) : If you can't find a book or article through Harvard, there are still ways to get it! * Borrow Direct (

) will deliver a book in 4 days * Interlibrary Loan (
http://harvard.us11.list-manage2.com/track/click?u=dda0ccd00b6d7270a8c9448f…
) will get it to you in a couple of weeks Other Get It Services (
http://harvard.us11.list-manage.com/track/click?u=dda0ccd00b6d7270a8c9448f3…
) at Harvard include: * Scan and Deliver (

) , which will email book chapters or whole articles to you * Harvard Direct, which will deliver your source to the library of your choice in the Harvard system (so you can pick that book from Countway up at Lamont instead within 24 business hours!) Did You Know...? ...that you can use the library to get access to free textbooks? Check them out on reserve at the library! If Harvard doesn't have what you need, borrow them through Harvard's Get It Services (
http://harvard.us11.list-manage1.com/track/click?u=dda0ccd00b6d7270a8c9448f…
) . You might also be able to get them from the Cambridge Public Library (
http://harvard.us11.list-manage.com/track/click?u=dda0ccd00b6d7270a8c9448f3…
) , or purchase used versions from the used books section of the Harvard Book Store, or Amazon. You can also rent used books from the COOP for a fraction of the cost. Book of the Week: Fill outthis survey (
http://harvard.us11.list-manage1.com/track/click?u=dda0ccd00b6d7270a8c9448f…
) to submit your book suggestions for the newsletter, the more the merrier! This week's book is Pale Horse, Pale Rider,by Katherine Anne Porter. In the words of the individual who recommended this book, Pale Horse, Pale Rider "is the most beautiful novel I've ever read. It's about exceptional moments that two people share -- during an epidemic and a war -- but it's also just about 'the simple and lovely miracle of being two persons.' It's also quite short and readable! (It's actually the length of a novella, but Porter was drastically opposed to calling it a novella -- a 'slack, boneless, affected word that we do not need to describe anything.')" Do you want to see your favorite book in the newsletter? Fill out this survey (
