) Study Tip of the Week Get-it Services If the source is available at Harvard… Search HOLLIS to see if the source that you are looking for is available. If the source is online, it’s just a click away! If Harvard instead has a physical copy, you can find it yourself in the library, or request that it be delivered to the circulation desk of the library of your choice. If the source is unavailable at Harvard… Sometimes, a source that you want may be unavailable at Harvard—either because it is not owned by the Harvard Library, or because another patron has checked it out. However, you may still be able to get the source from a partner institution: * BorrowDirect (
https://harvard.us11.list-manage.com/track/click?u=dda0ccd00b6d7270a8c9448f…
) allows you to request items from other partner university libraries and receive the items in about 4 business days; * Interlibrary Loan (
https://harvard.us11.list-manage.com/track/click?u=dda0ccd00b6d7270a8c9448f…
) allows you to borrow from other libraries, including public libraries. Requests may take up to 2 weeks. Paid Opportunity: Peer Research Fellow (PRF) for House Do you love Harvard Libraries? Do you enjoy helping others find useful information? Apply for a paid position as a Peer Research Fellow! The Library is seeking one resident from each of the following Houses for a paid position as Peer Research Fellow (PRF) beginning September 2019: * Adams * Cabot * Dunster * Eliot * Mather * Pforzheimer * Quincy * Winthrop The Peer Research Fellows program seeks to bring the library's extensive collections and expertise into students' everyday lives through the PRF, a dedicated student who assists peers with their research. Each PRF will be paired with a Mentor Librarian for six weeks of paid training, during which PRFs will learn in-depth research strategies, meet with speciality librarians, and explore Harvard's many research resources. After training, PRFs will work with their peers an average of five hours per week. Job duties include sending out weekly newsletters to neighborhood House listservs; holding weekly study breaks in neighborhood dining halls to share timely research tips; hosting research-related House events; organizing library tours; being available to fellow students for research questions and consultations; and other responsibilities as assigned. Applicants should have an interest or experience in reaching out to peers and supporting student learning, possess enthusiasm for libraries and research, and exhibit creativity, initiative, and follow-through. The successful candidate should be available through May 2021 or beyond and must be free mornings or afternoons on Fridays during November and December 2019 (for training). If you would like to apply, please send your resume and cover letter to Ramona Crawford, the PRF Program Administrator at libraryprf(a)fas.harvard.edu (mailto:libraryprf@fas.harvard.edu) by April 9, 2019. In the interim, please feel free to talk with any of the current PRFs about their experience in the role (see the “People” tab on our website (
https://harvard.us11.list-manage.com/track/click?u=dda0ccd00b6d7270a8c9448f…
) for contact information). The wage is $14.50/hour and candidates will be invited for an interview depending on qualifications.
