Entries about women are underrepresented in Wikipedia, the world’s largest online source
of information. We will write new entries about women athletes and women’s sports,
supplement current entries, and begin to address the imbalance.
No previous experience writing Wikipedia entries is necessary. Wikipedia experts and
research librarians from the Schlesinger Library will be available to help you write and
edit your entries. A list of possible subjects, printed reference materials, and online
resources will be provided to support the work. New ideas and resources are also welcome.
We’ll focus our resources on women athletes, but this edit-a-thon is open to anyone
wishing to create or edit entries about women.

(

, by Jeanette Winterson.
Book cover with surrealist portrait of girl with red hair holding an orange
In this pseudo-autobiographical novel, Winterson tells the coming-of-age story of
Jeanette, a girl in North England, as she comes to terms with her sexuality. The narrative
is interspersed with various myths and fairytales, as the protagonist works to balance her
religious commitments and her love of women.
