Quick Tips:
Finding and Using Literature Reviews
Particularly in the sciences and social sciences, literature reviews are a great way to
quickly catch up on work that’s already been done in a field and identify key sources,
experiments, or investigators. In fact, many literature reviews (also called "lit
reviews" or "review articles") even explicitly identify future areas of
research and unanswered questions, providing useful suggestions for your own research.
Literature reviews are therefore a fantastic place for quick, relevant information when
researching on a time crunch. Find them by searching through HOLLIS+
(
http://harvard.us11.list-manage1.com/track/click?u=dda0ccd00b6d7270a8c9448f…)
and narrowing down your results with filters like “Articles” and “Reviews” to find them.
In databases like ScienceDirect
(
http://harvard.us11.list-manage2.com/track/click?u=dda0ccd00b6d7270a8c9448f…)
and PsycInfo
(
http://harvard.us11.list-manage1.com/track/click?u=dda0ccd00b6d7270a8c9448f…)
, you can use the advanced search (journals limit: "Review Articles", or
methodology limit:
"LITERATURE REVIEW," respectively) to specify literature reviews.Literature
reviews can also be found through encyclopedia entries and introductory texts about
particular topics.
