* How to organize your research
* How to find and use existing citation lists
As usual, I'll be in the dining hall on Thursday from 7:30-8:30pm with candy,
handouts, and free to answer any questions you might have. Email me with questions any
time (gomez01(a)college.harvard.edu) and check out our Peer Research Fellow website

for useful links and resources!
Study Space of the Week:
Cabot Group Study Rooms:
Need to brainstorm for a group project? Want a room to study with a group of friends? On
the second floor of the Cabot Science Library, there are six Group Study Rooms equipped
with large tables, chairs, blackboards, and chalk. They cannot be reserved, so swing by
whenever you need a group study space to see if one is available. If you aren't
studying in a group, please give the room to someone who is if such a group stops by!
Quick Tips:
Using existing bibliographies: As you are creating bibliographies for your final
projects, don't forget to draw on existing ones! You can check the bibliography of an
encyclopedia (or other reference book), journal article, book, thesis, or dissertation for
great suggestions. Also, look in Canvas to see if there are any courses about your paper
topic. If so, use their syllabus for help! Don't be afraid to ask a research
librarian, TF, or professor for assistance. Once you've identified a helpful source,
you can use the "Find a Citation
(

" tool on Hollis+ or check JSTOR, Academic Search Premier, Google Scholar, or Web of
Science. You can also check discipline specific databases
(

. I would also recommend emailing the author in a pinch!
Did You Know...?
...that the library catalogs non-Roman alphabet texts in Roman alphabets? For example, a
text in Arabic would be indexed under its Roman phonetic equivalent. Unfortunately,
sometimes there is no index in the native alphabet. Different people spell the equivalent
in different ways, which can make research challenging. One resource to help you is the
Library of Congress Romanization tables
(

. This is a standardized spelling for the majority of texts in Hollis. Some texts predate
the tables, so try multiple spellings if you can't find what you need!
Book of the Week:
The book of the week
(

is The Book of Laughter and Forgetting, by Milan Kundera
Fellow Currierite describes The Book of Laughter and Forgetting as "structured unlike
any other book out there -- part fiction, part autobiography, part history."
