Dear all,
Just a quick note from the three of us to wish you all a happy Thanksgiving break.
Safe travels, if you are heading home or elsewhere. Have a good break, if you are staying here.
We are grateful for the chance to live among all of you!
John, Anne and Jamie

A Danish word, hygge (pronounced "hooga") translates roughly to coziness and the art of building community, comfort and a sense of home<http://hygge.co/definition-of-hygge/>. To practice and experience this tradition for ourselves, we invite you to come by Comstock Living room tonight (c 9-11pm), where we will be offering hot cider, pumpkin pie, cookies and other snacks, blankets for curling up under, the warm glow of candles, and an open fire in the fireplace. Stay for a few minutes, or come with a good book or a few good friends and stay for the evening. Hope to see many of you there…
Anne and John

Hey Pfoho!
I'm excited to announce a special upcoming Pfoho chocolate event! On
*Wednesday,

") will bring chocolatier Sunita de Tourreil, founder of The Chocolate
Garage <http://thechocolategarage.com/>, to Pfoho for a presentation on
"happy chocolate." De Tourreil uses the term to describe "delicious
chocolate made from the finest cacao, sourced in ways that protect the
environment and allow farmers to earn a premium for quality." The event
will also include a tasting of different chocolates!
Space is limited to 50 Pfoho residents and affilates, so *you will need
to sign up for this pfree event <https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/XX6L6PH>.* More

*"Happy Chocolate: *
*Why you can have your cake and eat it too!" *
*8PM Wednesday, Dec. 2, 2015*
*Hastings Room*
Sunita de Tourreil, Founder of The Chocolate Garage
<http://thechocolategarage.com/> in Palo Alto, invites you to join us for
an evening of exploring cacao, happy chocolate and your role in creating
change with each chocolate bar you choose to buy.
We will start with an introduction to the basics of growing and harvesting
cacao, and touch on a few of the many, intricate steps that need to be
perfected to create a delicious bar with minimal ingredients. This will be
followed by some applied learning, tasting some happy chocolate and less
happy chocolate. We will look at The Chocolate Garage as a model for
building community, up and down the supply chain and the untapped value
that this unlocks. I hope a discussion will ensue around building new ways
of engaging with our food, while building business models that align
building community with local, high quality and carefully crafted. Bring
your palates, hearts and minds!
Dr. Carla D. Martin of the Department of African and African American
Studies and the spring semester 2016 class AAAS 119x: Chocolate, Culture,
and the Politics of Food will also be in attendance.

Dear all,
Happy Harvard/Yale weekend! Since I know that many of you will be heading to Yale today, I wanted to make sure that you all knew about the very useful website: http://thegame.fas.harvard.edu
You’ll find lots of info there about events going on tomorrow, and also a tab for safety information and important phone numbers: http://thegame.fas.harvard.edu/safety Please take a minute to have a look at that page and take note of some of the key numbers in case you need assistance while you’re away from Pfoho.
Have a wonderful time!

Dear all,
Versions of this message are being sent to all students in the Harvard houses this evening, by all the House heads.
An event happened today on the Harvard Law School campus that stands in shocking contrast to yesterday's elegant, peaceful protest at the Science Center Plaza, and today’s release of the Report of the College Working Group on Diversity and Inclusion. Portraits of black faculty in Harvard Law School were defaced.
We all feel sickened by this act of hate and vandalism. We will continue to work with the College to make Harvard a community of which all of us are proud. Meanwhile, we are writing to reach out, acknowledge what has happened, and express our support for all our students of color.
After the Thanksgiving break, we will be arranging a meeting in the Hastings Room to discuss the College Working Group report on Diversity and Inclusion, and its recommendations. We will be in touch with more details soon.
Anne, John and Brigitte
