On Sunday, October 18, we are planning a trip for all of you to Mt Monadnock (in new Hampshire) so that you all can experience the fall foliage season of New England in all its brilliant colors. The plan is to leave in the morning by bus at around 8am, arrive in Jaffrey, NH around 10am, climb to the top (fortified with lots of water and trail mix), eat our pack lunches together on on the mountain peak, and then make our way back down…but not before ending our excursion with a visit to a working maple sugar house, where we hope samples will be on hand…
To proceed with our planning, it would be good to get an idea of numbers. If you want to come, could you sign up on this <https://docs.google.com/document/d/1cZvZ5EF_KSXZA7iB7B7-mBsAp4kEDwPTmlDa5Vl…> Google doc form? If you can't yet make a firm commitment, but are interested, just indicate that in the comments space. At the moment, we really just need an approximate sense of how many are likely to come, so that we can plan appropriate transportation… We will then get in touch with final details!
Looking forward to a great day out with many of you!
Anne and John

Dear Pfoho,
We write with very exciting news!
Many of you know Matt Desmond, one of our House Fellows and Associate Professor of Sociology and Social Studies at the College. We’re so happy to announce that Matt has won an extremely prestigious MacArthur Foundation fellowship (commonly known as the “Genius Award"). You can find out more about the award here: https://www.macfound.org/fellows/class/2015/
We were lucky enough to have the chance to hear about Matt's research when he spoke at one of our Pfoho Pforums last year, and we're so proud of all he has done and will do in his research on poverty in American cities.
Please join us in congratulating Matt!
Very best,
Anne, John, and Brigitte

Successfully begun in Spring 2013. The idea is simple. Invite a favorite professor, TF or tutor to lunch in a favorite restaurant in the Square, or anywhere that is mutually convenient. We will then reimburse you for the entire cost of the lunch, up to $20 per person (limited to one lunch per person each semester).
Want to eat in Adams House? Then you need to have a Pfoho sticker on your ID card. You can pick one up from either Mario (Building Managers' Office) or Sue (House Office).
