Hi Everyone!
Marie and I can't wait to welcome many of you back for wintersession next week! To kick it off, we're planning an afternoon outing to Made-By-Me pottery painting studio in our very own Porter Square on Monday afternoon (~2-4pm).
This is the perfect opportunity to make something for that special Valentine, a birthday or thank-you gift, or perhaps something useful for the upcoming semester!
The House will cover the studio fee, paint, and a base pottery budget, and there is no artistic talent necessary (even Kate can paint [😊] )!
If you're interested in joining us, please email me directly with your name and phone number.
Looking forward to it!
Stacy and Marie

Hi Pfoho!
If you're back on campus and missing the 'most important meal of the day' as much as we are, come join us for pancake breakfast this Saturday (1/19) 9-10am in the Moors kitchen.
There's no need to RSVP, but if you know for sure you're coming and/or have any dietary restrictions (note: pancakes will be vegan), please let us know ASAP<https://goo.gl/forms/ttE81RH9f5QQSURE3>, so we can plan accordingly.
Hope to see you there!

Dear Pfoho Winter Recess II Residents and Tutors,
Below is a message from Edward Lemon from HUIT about swapping out the wireless routers mounted on the walls. It will shut down all wireless connection on the listed buildings below for just that day. It will NOT affect wired connections, just the wireless. If you have any problems, Please don't hesitate to contact me. Should be a pretty simple swap!
Best,
-Mario

Please know that HUIT techs with visible Harvard ID's will be working in Faculty Row and Comstock Hall on Tuesday, 1/15/19, between 9AM and 3PM. They will be swapping out the existing WAP (Wireless Access Point) devices throughout the building with a new device manufacturer's product.
Wireless service in the building will be off-line the day this work is undertaken. The wired connectivity will remain unaffected and in service. We appreciate your patience and understanding during this time. Please contact FAS Physical Resources if you have any questions or concerns.
This work will not change the current wireless service. Already existing problems experienced with wireless service should be sent with as much descriptive detail as possible (including times, dates, location, MAC address of system using the service) to ithelp(a)harvard.edu<mailto:ithelp@harvard.edu> so HUIT may catalogue, research, and address them appropriately.

I wanted to let everyone know about this real fun excursion. The College
has provided transport, and the alums have covered the cost. Please pub
widely, and feel free to join us if you can!
Join us *this Saturday January 5th* for a day-trip to one of Massachusetts’
most historic cities, New Bedford, one hour south of Boston. Founded in
1652, New Bedford rose to prominence as a whaling village, and for several
decades before the Civil War, New Bedford enjoyed the highest per capita
income in the United States. This wealth was due to whale oil, which before
the advent of kerosene, produced the best fuel for lighting. Later, New
Bedford also became a major textile center. With the decline of the
Atlantic fisheries and the closing of most of the large mills in the 1980s,
the city fell on hard times, but a major preservation effort has led to the
restoration if its historic downtown and seaport area. The New Bedford
Whaling Museum, which we'll visit, is considered the premiere museum of its
type in the world. On Saturday, they begin their annual epic reading of *Moby
Dick* at noon, which we'll participate in. The city is also famous for its
Portuguese, particularly Azorean, immigrants, who arrived early-on to man
the fishing fleets, and continue a culinary traditional that is unrivaled
in Massachusetts. (We'll also be sampling the food!) New Bedford was also
the first home of abolitionist Frederick Douglass after he escaped slavery
in 1838. We'll be visiting his homestead and learning more about this
great American social reformer, abolitionist, orator, writer, and statesman.
*Tentative Schedule: *
*9:30 AM SHARP* Bus Departs From Harvard Lampoon *(Note SHARP) NO HARVARD
TIME*
*10:45* Arrive New Bedford; Greeting at Whaling Museum sampling of pasteis
