Dear group
FAS networks has done an extensive security hole study and has given us the
results of the aspuru-group studies. It seems ubuntu is keeping us safe, but
there are some areas that we need to work on. The results are posted outside
my cubicle, a step away from the coffee machine and on the way to the
Biggest Little Coral Reef in the World.
*The first step to correcting these errors is updating to Ubuntu 8.04. *
James and I have already done such updates and it seems that it does not
have any of the problems that the last one had, so it's just pressing a
couple of buttons, and wait until it's updated. Besides, the new Ubuntu
works great.
Therefore, please check which possible security errors you have, update
(this goes for everyone in the group) and either ask James or I if you have
any questions, especially those that are become familiarized with linux.
Furthermore, let us know if/when 8.04 is successfully running on your
machines, so we have everybody accounted for.
Thanks
Roberto
Dear Quanta
On Wednesday May 21 we will have another group meeting at 3:00 in
6-310 to give Andrew Childs an opportunity to tell us about his
interesting work on universal computation by quantum walk. Come if
you can.
