Dear group members,
Dori and I are rearranging furniture at home and will not need this couch-bed anymore.
It cost us originally 500 back in the bay area circa 2005. We used to have it in our living room when I was a postdoc. It is well preserved and has great storage drawers.
It is *free* to the first group member that agrees to come to my house (Cambrigeport) and take it away before next Saturday when we have other furniture come in. It is great as a guest bed!
I will send another picture of it in the next message.
Again, first come, first-serve.

Dear Group,
As many of you are already aware, there was a significant breakthrough in
our understanding of spin glasses earlier this week; someone has finally
managed to map the Ising model to a board game. This accomplishment is
chronicled on the MIT arXiv blog, here:
https://medium.com/the-physics-arxiv-blog/83c9cf45dcdd and, of course, in
the corresponding arXiv paper, here: http://arxiv.org/abs/1312.1839.
In order to stay relevant in this highly competitive field, I believe we
must procure a copy of this game for the group and possibly some of our
collaborators. The game is somehow produced by this computational physics
group (http://www.compphys.uni-oldenburg.de/en/) at the University of
Oldenburg and its possible to buy it through the German language version of
Amazon.com here:
http://www.amazon.de/2274-5-Spinglas/dp/3814222741/ref=sr_1_fkmr1_1?ie=UTF8….
Its 16 Euro.
I've already tried to buy the game. The only problem is that they will only
ship to addresses in Germany (Salvatore and I already tried to ship it to
his parents in Italy). This brings me to the point of the email: is anyone
going to Germany? Does anyone have people visiting from Germany? I can
arrange to buy the game and have it shipped to any address in Germany and
will pay a courier fee.
Clearly, this is crucially important for research purposes.
Warm Regards,
Ryan

Hi Guys:
I'll need some help setting up tomorrow at around 1:00PM.
I also need someone to secure a small bin for beer (and ice) - large enough
to put on a table.
2 large garbage bins, and of course everyone to help with clean-up.
See you tomorrow.
Thanks,
MC.

Hi everybody,
I wanted to ask a big favor to the group members that speak Spanish. I have
a video-conference job interview for the University of Chile this Thursday
19 an I would like to do a practice session tomorrow Wednesday. I will do
it in Spanish, since they asked me to give it in that language (and
explicitly said that they do not want Spanglish).
I propose to do it from 12:00 to 13:30, pizza will be provided. Let me know
if you can come.
Thanks,
Xavier
PS: Of course, non-Spanish speakers are welcome too.
