Dear Quanta
On Wednesday May 21 we will have another group meeting at 3:00 in
6-310 to give Andrew Childs an opportunity to tell us about his
interesting work on universal computation by quantum walk. Come if
you can.

Subject: Quantum Mathematica 6 Package
To: aspuru(a)chemistry.harvard.edu
Cc: svenegas(a)itesm.mx
Dear Quantum Mathematica users
There is a new version of "Quantum" , the free Mathematica 6 Add-On for
Quantum Mechanics and Quantum Computing calculations in Dirac Notation, and
plotting of Quantum Circuits.
This new version takes into account the suggestions of Francisco
Delgado-Cepeda, Jean-Daniel Bancal, Anirban Das, Rubén Dario Santiago-Acosta
and Sergio Eduardo Martínez-Casas, thank you to all of them.
You can download Quantum from
http://homepage.cem.itesm.mx/lgomez/quantum/index.htm, there you can also
find the installation instructions. Quantum is totally free.
Among the new features of "Quantum" for Mathematica 6 we have:
Quantum is up to 100 faster in expressions that include many multiplications
(thanks to Francisco Delgado)
It works with symbolic and infinite sums (thanks to Jean-Daniel Bancal)
http://homepage.cem.itesm.mx/lgomez/quantum/sums/sums.html
It calculates Partial Transpose (besides Traces, thanks Anirban Das)
http://homepage.cem.itesm.mx/lgomez/quantum/tracetranspose/tracetranspose.h…
It calculates (approx) Exponentials of operators (thanks Ruben Dario)
http://homepage.cem.itesm.mx/lgomez/quantum/powerseries/powerseries.html
It obtains Dirac expressions from matrices (thanks to Francisco Delgado)
http://homepage.cem.itesm.mx/lgomez/quantum/matrices/matrices.html
It is possible to specify the order of the qubits when quantum circuits are
plotted (thanks to Sergio Martínez-Casas)
http://homepage.cem.itesm.mx/lgomez/quantum/qcircuits/qcircuits.html
You can download Quantum from
http://homepage.cem.itesm.mx/lgomez/quantum/index.htm, there you can also
find the installation instructions.
Hope you find it useful,

Hey guys,
Tomorrow I am planning on having a rehearsal for my oral exam which is early
in the afternoon on Tuesday. I would really appreaciate if you come and give
me some feedback before I stand before the committee. I know tomorrow will
be a holiday but it will give you an excuse to get out of the apartment and
take some sunshine ;). The title of the proposal is: "A semigroup approach
to energy transfer in light-harvesting systems: the case of excitonic energy
transfer in the photosynthetic reaction center of *Rhodobacter sphaeroides*
".
Thanks,
-Alejandro
Dear Group
The IIC (Initiative for Innovative Computing) of Harvard is hosting an open
house. There will be a poster from the group and also some free food, for
those interested in either.
The event takes place at 60 Oxford and runs from 9-2. The poster session
begins at 11.30.
See you
Roberto
Dear all,
Just wanted to let you know that tomorrow will be my last day, as I'll be
busy with senior week activities until graduation. I will work on a complete
summary of my investigations this semester and keep a record of all my
experiments for anybody who would like to continue the project. In case I
don't get to see any of you tomorrow, I just wanted to thank you for all
you've done for me the past year. I'm very grateful to have been given the
opportunity to work with such a wonderful, supportive group, and I'm
extremely satisfied with my undergraduate research experience at Harvard.
So, thank you so much!
I hope to stay in touch - I would love to know the new and incredible
discoveries made by the group in the future. Best of luck.
Cheers,
Justin
P.S. Please let me know if you're ever in New York and wish to catch up
(201.575.0733)!
