Dear all,
Stephen Forrest, very famous for his organic photovoltaics work will be
giving the materials science seminar at MIT:
http://www.ee.princeton.edu/people/Forrest.php
Room: 66-110
Today 3 PM
I won't be able to go (I *have* to seclude and finish my promotion package)
but hopefully there are volunteers to learn what he is up to.

*Get Published and Cited Faster*
The *Journal of Physical Chemistry Letters* will offer the shortest time
from submission to web publication of any physical chemistry journal. And
letters published in the *Journal of Physical Chemistry Letters* will have a
full citation, including page numbers, when posted on the web as ASAP
articles and prior to being collected in an issue. This feature will allow
your letters to be cited at least 2 weeks earlier than previously possible.
*First Issue — January 2010*
First letters will be published online mid-November 2009. Issue 1 launches
January 2010. For more details about the *Journal of Physical Chemistry

TO TOP <#1241039826843832_top>* *New Energy Subdivision Created*
During the Fall 2009 National Meeting, the Division of Physical Chemistry of
the American Chemical Society established an Energy subdivision this year.
National symposia sponsored by PHYS in the area of energy include "The
Physical Chemistry of Photon to Fuel Conversion" (Fall 2009) and the
upcoming "Optical Science and Emerging Energy Technologies" at the Spring
2010 National Meeting in San Francisco.
*Spring 2010 National Meeting Submission Deadline is October 19th*
Details on submitting an abstract for this and other PHYS-sponsored
programming at the Spring 2010 National Meeting may be found on the Division
webpage <http://phys-acs.org>. The deadline for submission is Oct. 19, 2009.
Please also note the special programs for postdocs and undergraduates
sponsored by PHYS.
*Award in Theoretical Chemistry*
Finally, the Division is pleased to announce that the 2009 Physical
Chemistry Division Award in Theoretical Chemistry was presented to Peter
Rossky at the TSTC in Telluride, CO, in July. Nominations are open for the
2010 award and will be accepted until Nov. 1, 2009. *[image:

Polymer Gels: Materials with Self-Assembled Fibrillar Networks*
*"This Special Issue of Langmuir is, in some senses, an acknowledgment of
the rapid growth that has occurred in the interest in and the understanding
of gels with fibrillar networks during the last few decades…*
*"…In other respects, this issue signals a challenge to the scientific
community: our increased knowledge has uncovered a myriad of heretofore
unrecognized questions that must be answered before we can truly understand
'how' and 'why' gels with fibrillar networks form…"*
— From the Editorial by Senior Editor Richard G. Weiss,
Georgetown University, in Volume 25, Issue 15, of *Langmuir*.
*Langmuiris Celebrating its 25th Anniversary in 2009
*
To celebrate, the journal will publish three Special Issues in 2009: the
first on Neutron Reflectivity, the second on Molecular and Polymer Gels:
Materials with Self-Assembled Fibrillar Networks, and the third, the final
issue of 2009, on developments during the last 25 years in five topics of
historical and ongoing importance to *Langmuir*. The first two Special
Issues are online now, along with a special anniversary website, at the *
Langmuir* website
