I realize with all the reply-all this conversation is starting to look like
spam
:)
.
I have received most votes but am missing about 10 votes from people. If
you want to vote
for the molecular website logo
remember to do it by tonight and please
reply only to me + alan to avoid spamming inboxes ;)

Hi everybody,
Does anybody have a camera tripod which he/she can bring to the office
today? If yes, that would be greatly appreciated.
Best wishes

Title: Does Cosmology Hint At How To Build Artificial Minds?
Abstract:
Recent advances in fields ranging from cosmology to computer science have
hinted at a possible deep connection between intelligence and entropy
maximization, but no formal physical relationship between them has yet been
established. We recently explicitly proposed a first step toward such a
relationship in the form of a causal generalization of entropic forces that
we found could cause two defining behaviors of the human "cognitive niche"
-- tool use and social cooperation -- to spontaneously emerge in simple
physical systems. Our results suggest a potentially general thermodynamic
model of adaptive behavior as a nonequilibrium process in open systems.
Looking forward to seeing you there,

To those who volunteered for the Theochem seminar organization:
This is a reminder that we are meeting tomorrow night at 7pm at John
Harvards to organize next year's Theochem, come with your suggestions of
professors!
Best,
Stephanie
Hi Everyone:
Today the topic of scotch tastings came up while talking with Ryan.
If there is interest, we each bring a bottle of scotch, or related
beverage, and have a tasting at my house in Brookline the weekend of the
29th with unfinished bottles returning home with their owners.
Please let me know if this is something that would be of interest.
With Respect,
Kai
Dear group members,
Today we have Martin Plenio speaking at 4.00 PM in Pfizer about Quantum
effects in biology. I am hosting so I expect the group to be there. It will
be interesting to hear from the "competition".
If you are meeting with him today , try to talk to him about work that you
have *published* or submitted already and avoid discussing unpublished work.
Best,
Alan

Dear everyone,
As some of you might have noticed, our OpenEye group license expired yesterday. I would be happy to request license renewal unless someone else is in charge of it. Does anyone have experience dealing with OpenEye or any additional information about the initial agreement between them and our group?
Thank you very much,
Dmitrij
