Dear Alan,
My collaborator, Dr. Janice Steckel, at the National Energy Technology
Laboratory has two open Post-Doctoral positions for research in the areas
of molecular simulations and high throughput screening for CO2 capture
applications. I will co-advise with Dr. Steckel on this project.
Could you please forward to members of your group that might be interested
in working as a postdoc in a national lab? I'd be more than happy to answer
any questions they might have.
Best regards,
Chris

TITLE: Chemical Reaction Networks for Fun and Non-Profit
SPEAKER: Dmitrij Rappoport
ABSTRACT: Complex reaction networks are the rule rather than the exception
in chemistry. In this talk, I will touch on their role in the origin of
life, chemical reactivity, and metabolism and outline some of the ways, in
which chemical reaction networks might be useful as conceptual or
computational tools.

Dear friends:
Summer is upon us and our students have arrived.
*Just a couple logistical updates.*
Jarrod, please clean your computer. I need your desk for Kelsey Justis who
will be working with Gian and Salvatore. He arrives next week. Don't forget
to mail your office key.
Ryan, can you ask someone to clean your computer. I will need this desk
for another visitor. Also, please mail your office key.
Can the occupants of MCB 1st floor clean the office space and dispose of
........ Please do that today. We may have REU admins visiting the labs.
The three REU students will reside next to Thomas on the 5th floor of MCB.
Peter, we will need the space left of your desk for one student. The other
two will sit in the two empty spaces near Thomas.
For the guys in Converse, lets try to use the empty desks where Changwon
and James are located. If needed, we may need to rotate students in that
area.
Martin, Thomas, and Borja. Once I get the REU IDs I will get them door
access to both buildings as well as keys.
Thanks,
MC.

Hi Everyone,
Just a heads up, Marlon will be out of the office from June 17th-June 24th, so if anything should come up, I will be here!!
Also, as you can tell, I have Harvard email address (aluongo(a)fas.harvard.edu), so if you could start sending things to this email, but also CC the temp email (aspuru.temp(a)gmail.com) for the next month or so, that would be wonderful!
Thank you all!

TITLE: Brain project
ABSTRACT: I will tell you about a new project that I have started working
on just a few months ago. This study is focused on modeling of association
between signals in small networks of neurons, which is also known as
Pavlovian conditioning and which forms a basis for our learning
capabilities. I plan to give a basic introduction into the project and its
motivations, then I will discuss physical mechanisms responsible for the
neuron plasticity and specific organization of neuron microcircuits in the
amygdala part of the brain, where one of canonical types of signal
conditioning occurs.
