Dear group,
Tomorrow Peter Love is up. Please find the title and abstract below.
``An introduction to Lie algebras in quantum information (and a little
quantum chemistry)’’
In this talk I will introduce Lie algebras, give some simple examples and
describe how Lie theory can be useful in two areas in quantum information:
producing short circuits that realize a given unitary matrix, and in
understanding the IQP model of quantum computing in which all operations
commute. I will also point out some connections of Lie theory to quantum
chemistry, in particular to the algebra of excitation operators.
Cheers,
-A
