Lecturer in Atomistic Simulation
Queen's University Belfast - School of Mathematics and Physics
Ref: 12/102428
A lectureship is available in the Atomistic Simulation Centre (ASC) at Queen’s University
Belfast. Successful candidates will have research interests in Theory and/or Simulation of
Condensed Matter systems that complement and/or enhance research activities within the
ASC, will contribute to teaching subjects relevant to Chemical Engineering students (in
particular in areas of Applied Mathematics), and will undertake administrative duties as
assigned.
The ASC develops and applies theoretical and computational methods for the modelling of
matter at the atomic scale. The systems of interest span molecules, liquids, solids,
plasmas and their interfaces. Research themes at the ASC (see
http://titus.phy.qub.ac.uk)
include: enhanced sampling methods in Statistical Mechanics, Many-body, DFT and
Tight-binding electronic structure methodologies, real-time simulation of transport and
dynamics at the nanoscale, and ultra-fast electron and photon driven dynamics. The ASC has
strong ties with the School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, collaborating in the
areas of catalysis and room temperature ionic liquids. Candidates are particularly sought
in one or more of the following general areas: multi-scale modelling, non-equilibrium and
non-adiabatic quantum dynamics, and ab initio electronic structure, with an emphasis on
developing collaborative research links with Chemistry and Chemical Engineering as well as
other Schools.
