Hi Everyone,
Here is some information about an interesting conference on Maxwell's Demon
from our former member, Yutaka. Feel free to e-mail him if you have
questions.
Best,

Dear Shelby,
How are you? Would you forward the following information on the conference
information about information in physics and the Maxwell's demon. MIT
quantum information people might be interested in this workshop.
Best wishes,
Yutaka

Title: Physics of information, information in physics, and the demon

Date: 27th - 29th June 2012
Venue: Okazaki Conference Center, Okazaki, Japan

Workshop description:
Maxwell’s demon is still alive. Even though Landauer and Bennett allegedly
exorcised him, we are witnessing his vigorous activity in the recent
literature in thermodynamics, statistical mechanics, quantum information,
and information science. Moreover, the progress in experimental techniques
now allows us to see him in the lab. We are now more able than ever to
gossip about his whereabouts and activities in nature. It should be the
right timing to provide researchers in relevant communities with an
opportunity to share their ideas. The main interests of this workshop will
include but not limited to
- the fundamental roles of information in the foundations of physics,
- the interplay between different fields through information,
- the natural dynamics from the viewpoint of information processing,
and
- the modern Maxwell’s demon in the lab or in the universe.
We hope we shall see the diverse faces of the demon and his physics.
