Seminar Title:
Generating and Recognizing High-Quality Training Data for Supervised
Machine Learning
Abstract:
At Tufts we are applying machine learning to mapping Earth’s land
cover, using an “artificial nose” to discriminate vapors, and non-
invasive glucose monitoring using an optical sensor. This talk will
explore projects addressing three interesting probems that arise as
we try to generate high-quality training data for these projects:
active class selection, noise in the labeling process for generating
training data, and when to abstain from a prediction in a part of the
feature space for which little to no representative training data has
been collected.
