Title: Studying many-body physics through classical and quantum coding theory
Abstract: The emerging closeness between correlated spin systems and error-correcting
codes enables us to address many-body physics problems through coding theoretical
techniques. In this talk, I will demonstrate the usefulness of coding theory by giving
solutions to the following two problems. (i) Fundamental limit on information storage
capacity of discrete spin systems. (ii) Feasibility of self-correcting quantum memory and
thermal stability of topological order at non-zero temperature.
